Zoals jullie misschien wel weten is De Samenscholing een
zelfgeorganiseerd, alternatief sociaal en cultureel centrum in Den Haag,
voortgekomen uit de kraakbeweging. De gemeente Den Haag heeft besloten
dat De Samenscholing per 31 oktober 2022 uit ons pand moet vertrekken,
ondanks dat er op het moment geen conreet plan ligt voor het pand.
Wij geven ons niet zomaar over aan ontruiming van een bruisend sociaal
centrum voor leegstand en gentrificatie. Daarom sturen we een brandbrief
aan de gemeente Den Haag,
Nog belangrijker: we zullen 15 oktober de straat op gaan om te
demonstreren tegen de plannen van de gemeente. Hopelijk zien we jullie zaterdag om 15:00 op het Stationsplein in Den Haag!

De Samenscholing
Sociale en culturele broedplaatsen en organisaties spreken zich uit voor
het behoud van De Samenscholing!
Al ruim zeven jaar vormt De Samenscholing een belangrijke plek in Den
Haag voor kunstenaars, muzikanten, veganisten, activisten, buurtbewoners
en mensen met een kleine portemonnee. Een plek waar mensen zich kunnen
ontplooien en organiseren zonder verplichte financiële transacties.
Honderden mensen maken gebruik van De Samenscholing. De gemeente
probeert dit zonder subsidie georganiseerde sociale centrum nu in te
ruilen voor een zielloos en besloten bedrijventerrein. Een wijk als
Moerwijk zit hier absoluut niet op te wachten; buurtbewoners geven aan
bang te zijn voor overlast, en de gemeente wil torenhoge huurprijzen
vragen. Terwijl veel bewoners van deze armste wijk van Den Haag nu graag
binnenlopen in De Samenscholing.
De Samenscholing komt voort uit een lange traditie van alternatieve en sociale centra, zoals onder andere vrijplaatsen De Vloek en De Blauwe aanslag. De concertzaal, weggeefwinkel, eetcafé, boekenplek en sportzaal
die het pand nu onder andere rijk is, zijn plekken waar mensen uit meerdere lagen van de samenleving bij elkaar komen. Culturele en sociale vrijplaatsen zijn van groot belang voor elke grote stad dieinternationaal aantrekkelijk wil blijven.
Ontruiming van de Samenscholing zal niet alleen leiden tot het leegmaken van het pand; de gemeente maakt zich hiermee ook schuldig aan het kapotmaken van de gemeenschap die daar de afgelopen zeven jaar zonder winstoogmerk is opgebouwd.
Daarom is het van groot belang dat De Samenscholing behouden blijft.
Middels deze brandbrief manen wij de gemeente Den Haag dringend om haar plannen voor de Beatrijsstraat 12 te herzien.
Op woensdag 26 oktober staat de Lutkemeer Polder op de agenda in de commissievergadering Grond en Ontwikkeling en Ruimtelijke Orde-ning.
Medestanders van Voedselpark020 zullen op die dag in de commissie hun visie geven op de toekomst van de polder en de gemeente (voor de ???ste) keer erop wijzen dat het nog niet te laat is, dat de bouwrijp-maken-werkzaamheden gestopt moeten worden en dat het bestemmingsplan voor de Lutkemeer terug veranderd moet worden naar agrarisch.
Behoud Lutkemeer roept iedereen op om op 26 oktober ook naar de Stopera te komen, om binnen of buiten de commissievergadering steun te betuigen aan de insprekers. De tijden zijn niet precies bekend maar de vergadering is van 13:30 tot 17:00 uur en gaat daarna vanaf 19:00 uur verder.
En natuurlijk blijft het nuttig om de commissieleden persoonlijk aan te schrijven en aan te spreken. De lijst met commissieleden staat vermeld op de pagina commissies van de Gemeente Amsterdam.
Dankjewel Stad Amsterdam
De gemeente Amsterdam heeft 25 bomen in de polder geplant.
Wij beschouwen dit als een handreiking naar Voedselpark Amsterdam en zijn hier heel blij mee.
Wij gaan er voorts van uit dat de gemeente – in verder overleg met ons – deze (biologisch gekweekte?) bomen een uiteindelijke plek gaat geven.
Wij danken de gemeente hartelijk voor dit gebaar van goede wil en komen 26 october 2022 graag langs om de plannen voor de verdere invulling van de polder toe te lichten.

rechtszaak
21 september moesten drie verdedigers van de Lutkemeerpolder voorkomen bij de Amsterdamse rechtbank voor een actie van twee(!) jaar geleden. Hun misdaad: ze hadden een politiebevel genegeerd om het terrein bij de Etnastraat te verlaten. Daarvoor hadden ze uiteraard een reden. De activisten verdomden het om de weg vrij te gegeven voor de bouwvoertuigen die zonder gel-dige vergunning onomkeerbare werk-zaamheden in de polder wilden uitvoeren.
Voor het gebouw lieten demonstranten tijdens de zitting met spandoeken en ’rhythms of resistance’ hardop hun steun voor rechtvaardigheid blijken. Een groen publiek voedselpark in de Lutkemeer ipv grijze distributiecentra en een eerlijk en open gemeentebestuur ipv grond-speculatie en corruptie waren de eisen.
Na drie uur vond de rechter de activisten wel schuldig aan het niet nakomen van een politiebevel, maar legde hun geen straf op.
Buurtbudget voor Lutkemeer ommetje
Een paar keer per maand orga-niseert Voedselpark 020 een ommetje door de polder. Er wordt ingegaan op de stand van zaken en vooral benadrukt dat het realiseren van een Voedselpark voor Amsterdam en omgeving nog altijd haalbaar is… als de bouwwerk-zaamheden nú worden stilgelegd.
Dit zou toch niet zo moeilijk hoeven te zijn voor een gemeente die haar mond vol heeft over burgerparticipatie, “tegels eruit en groen erin” en lokale aanpak van de klimaatcrisis.
Maar zie hoe diezelfde gemeente in de Lutkemeerpolder vrij spel geeft aan projectontwikkelaars waaronder AMS CITY DOCKS en daarmee 40ha aan biodiversiteit vernietigt.
Door gemeente zelfgemaakte regels omtrent bouwvergunningen worden door hun zelf omzeild om de ontwikkeling van groen naar grijs met haastige spoed door te laten gaan. Er mòet en zal een 5,5ha groot gebouw komen met een 4 verdiepingen hoge garage. Dit alles is dan te huur.
Serieus geïnteresseerden die noodzakelijk op deze plek moeten zitten, moeten dus nog gezocht worden. De kans op leegstand is realistisch en de aanleg van nieuw aan te leggen infrastructuur zal de stad nog duur komen te staan.
Vanaf 18 oktober ’22 ontvangen alle inwoners van Amsterdam Nieuw-West vanaf 12 jaar oud een persoonlijke stemkaart voor het BuurtBudget. Hierbij wordt een budget verdeeld over de meest gekozen buurtinitiatieven. Voedselpark 020 is met ‘Buurtwandeling door de mooie Lutkemeerpolder” door naar de 2de ronde. Met een stem op dit initiatief draag je bij aan behoud van meer lokaal en betaalbaar voedsel, een plek voor recreatie en educatie vanaf een vruchtbare bodem, kortom een gezonde leefomgeving.
Dus Nieuw-West: Hou de brievenbus vanaf de 18de in de gaten en vertel het de buren! Laat ze allemaal weten waar jij voor kiest.
Aardappelrooidag
Op 28 augustus was weer de jaarlijkse Aardappelrooidag bij Ecologische Boer-derij De Boterbloem. Het weer was zonnig en de sfeer werd omlijst met muziek van de Boterbloem huisband De MG project en heerlijke aardappelhapjes. Er was een constante stroom van mensen veelal met kinderen die het fantastisch vonden om zelf te oogsten. “Het is als het vinden van goud!” was een van de uitroepen.
We kunnen het niet vaak genoeg benadrukken hòe waardevol de Lutkemeerse klei werkelijk is. De grond heeft ook dit jaar weer een overweldigende aardappeloogst geleverd. De soms wel 20 cm grote exemplaren konden juist door de droogte en zonder water te geven zonder modder en schoon gerooid worden.
Kom het vooral zelf ervaren, weliswaar nu wel iets modderiger.

Oogstfeest
Het oogstfeest van 17 september in de Lutkemeerpolder was een mooi voorbeeld van hoe het toekomstige Voedselpark020 er uit zou kunnen zien.
Ecologische boerderij de Boterbloem, de Stadsgroente-boeren, Pluk! c.s.a. en kwekerij de Tuinakker organiseerden het feest om het eerste jaar van vruchtbare samenwerking en de Oogst te vieren.
Ondanks de erg warme en droge zomer was de oogst, zoals normaal in deze polder, super. Dat gold echter niet voor het weer op die dag: storm & regen.
Gelukkig was de opkomst van geïnteresseerden toch heel groot en overal op het terrein gebeurde wel iets:
Er waren rondleidingen, er werden workshops gegeven, gerecyclede T-shirts en zelfgekweekte planten verkocht; er was lekker zelfgemaakt eten en drinken; je kon aardappels en andere groentes oogsten en die met korting afrekenen.
De dag werd afgesloten met de prachtige bluegrass muziek van de Ain’t no Mountain Boys en de huisband van de Boterbloem, the M G project.
Hoewel F. Halsema, R. Groen Wassink, R. Van Dansig en Z. Pels natuurlijk afwezig waren, kijken wij met zijn allen toch terug op een zeer geslaagd evenement.
Plak en verfacties
Om de lokatie van de Lutkemeerpolder meer bekendheid te geven en om meer mensen naar het Oogstfeest te lokken, voerden een aantal symphatisanten van de Lutkemeer wat kleine maar effectieve acties uit.
Het traject vanaf het Vondelpark naar de polder werd verfraait met posters. Ook een paar richtingaanwijzers naar de LUTKEMEER verschenen op straat. Gevolgd door mooie kleurrijke richtingaanwijzers.

Om de Lutkemeerpolder te redden helpt het enorm wanneer meer mensen op de hoogte zijn van de situatie. Veel Amsterdammers denken, sinds Ahold zich hier niet meer gaat vestigen, dat de Lutkemeerpolder is gered. Dit is onjuist, vertel het voort. Veel ambtenaren en politici denken dat het onbetaalbaar is om de Lutkemeerpolder te redden ook dit is onjuist. Marieke van Doorninck heeft jaren geleden een berekening laten maken en kwam op een kostenpost van 42 miljoen uit, echter er is niemand die kan uitleggen waar dit bedrag op is gebaseerd. Daarbij zijn er ook heel veel organisaties en bedrijven die ook willen dat de Lutkemeerpolder behouden blijft voor lokale biologische landbouw. Zij willen ons financieel helpen. Voedselpark Amsterdam is er van overtuigd dat het realiseren van een ecologische broed-plaats in de Lutkemeerpolder uiteindelijk voor iedereen meer leefbaarheid op-levert. Help mee!
Het advies van een professionele lobbyist is om zoveel mogelijk mensen, bedrijven en organisaties op te roepen om te Twitteren over je zorgen over de Lutkemeerpolder, over het betere perspectief dan distributiehallen Voed-selpark Amsterdam. Instagram kan ook. Het maakt niet uit of je een klein account hebt met maar 1 volger, alle zichtbaarheid is welkom. Wanneer je in contact bent met bedrijven, organisaties of mensen met een groot account die namens ons willen Twitteren dan is dat geweldig. Twitter is (helaas) één van de weinige manieren waarop je politici nog direct kan bereiken. Je kan ze laten merken dat je ze volgt. Door ze te taggen. Door te reageren. Dit telt ook voor Instagram, echter op Twitter zijn er meer journalisten. Je voert hiermee de druk op, dit kan heel succesvol zijn. Bovendien is er zichtbaar dat we ze in de gaten houden. Het is misschien banaal om te doen, maar het heeft wel invloed.
Behoud Lutkemeer in Actie
Behoud Lutkemeer is niet alleen actief op straat maar ook in procedures. Op het moment loopt er een rechtszaak tegen het verlenen van een bouwvergunning voor een Distributie Centrum in de polder. Ook is er een zaak waarin B.L. de gemeenteraad wil dwingen het, onder invloed van corruptie tot stand gekomen, bestemmingsplan te heroverwegen.
Daarnaast bleek kortgeleden dat een stuk van de aanleg van de weg in de polder tegen het huidige bestemmings-plan ingaat. (Een handhavingsverzoek is ingediend. )
Het is een vreemde gang van zaken: enerzijds gebruikt de gemeente het “corrupte” bestemmingsplan om de polder te laten volbouwen, terwijl zij zich anderzijds niet houden aan datzelfde bestemmingsplan…
Wij hopen en verwachten dat de rechter zal bepalen dat ook de gemeente zich aan de regels dient te houden en dat corruptie niet gedoogd of beloond mag worden.
De strijd om de polder terug te veroveren op corrupte grondspeculanten en een onwillige gemeente is een moeilijk strijd die het zeker waard is gestreden te worden voor de natuur, voor Amster-dam, voor de Democratie en voor de toekomst.

The times are not definite but the meeting goes from 13:30-17:00 and begins again around 19:00. Sadly, this month there was a trial for activists who 2 years ago(!) tried to stop unlicensed building in the polder, and the judge found them guilty of not obeying police orders. There was a crowd outside, along with Rythms of Resistance, calling for the judgement to consider that what the builders were doing was not legal. On that note, it’s come to light that the construction that is happening now is being done without a buyer in place. This means that there is a real likelihood that fertile soil could be used for local food production is being destroyed for giant empty distribution center. Unacceptable!

Marshall European Center for Security Studies (GCMC) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Introduction
This year our Strategic Competition Seminar Series (FY23 SCSS) activities will focus on the theme of alternative Ukrainian future trajectories and the implications these may have for Russia and the West.This Roundtable examines three aspects of the puzzle: Russia’s vertical escalation potential; prospects of Russian regime change; and Ukrainian intelligence covert action.
Russian Nuclear Escalation Potential
Russia has undertaken mobilization, annexation, created a new ‘joint force’ in Belarus (all aspects of ‘horizontal escalation”) and attacked Ukrainian critical national infrastructure. Putin states that 220,00 ‘mobiks’ have so far been mobilized, with 16,000 already deployed to the occupied territories in combat units. Kremlin predictive thinking is that these measures will enable Russia to stabilize its front lines over Winter. This then creates the conditions for the insertion of even more mobilized and trained troops into Ukraine in the Spring, allowing Russia to launch counter-offensives and be victorious. The need for vertical escalation is negated by this winning strategy, though its threat is designed to intimidate the West into pressuring Ukraine to negotiate a settlement on Russia’s terms.
This predictive thinking can be questioned. Russia commits a dual blunder: it annexes territory it does not fully control and mobilizes troops its military cannot absorb/process. In this sense, Russian “forced mobilization” does not immediately boost Russia’s conventional capability. In the short term, rather than consolidation, the cohesion of Russian combat units may decrease. Inter-ethnic tensions (Belgorod shooting) within the Russian military are exposed. The joint grouping in Belarus is not meant for warfighting (it lacks offensive capability) but is designed to increase the length of the front that Ukraine must worry about. Attacks on Ukrainian CNI will have an impact in winter but do not materially change the military situation.
Over the longer term the presence of mobilized troops boosts Russia’s defensive capability and so slows Ukrainian advances, increasing the time Ukraine takes to retake territory, and blunts break-through potential. By March 2023 troops being trained now will have a greater utility and numbers count. However, in the context of autumn 2022 rather than spring 2023, a sudden large and damaging Ukrainian breakthrough on the ‘Kherson front’, where retreat is not possible, increases the possibility of a Russian military rout. Ukrainian troops “at the gates of Sevastopol” is a less likely scenario over the next month. Nonetheless, in either case panic in the Russian military leads to large scale desertion, surrender and mutiny in the Russian military. Panic in the Kremlin may lead to Russian vertical escalation. Already one component of the Russian nuclear triad – strategic bombers – are in use in the war in Ukraine and in principle conventional munitions can be exchanged for nuclear.
Several factors mitigate against nuclear use. Since 1991 Russia lacks practical experience of handling nuclear weapons. This raises the possibilities of human error, mishandling at the delivery, arming or firing stages. Will the munitions explode? Will orders be obeyed? Russia has not brought non-strategic (tactical) nuclear weapons out of its 12 storage sites, nor has it carried out preparatory nuclear testing (for example, a land or air-based test above Novaya Zemlya) or “nuclearized” its conventional forces. For these reasons, Russian vertical escalation probability is tied to the speed and scale of Ukrainian advances and the effects of the shock of Russian predictive thinking shattering.
Prospects of Regime Change in Russia
Russia cannot win against Ukraine if the West continues current levels of support and Putin cannot admit defeat, regardless of Ukraine taking back occupied territory. When victory is not possible and defeat not an option, we can expect a prolonged conflict. Russia will pressure the West to pressure Ukraine and at the same time make the war felt throughout Ukraine though drone and missile attacks. Under such conditions, how likely is regime change in Russia?
“Not very” is the short answer: organized opposition in Russia is destroyed or imprisoned, the regime increases repression and letting those who do not want to fight leave acts a safety valve, allowing Russia to maintain internal pressure at acceptable levels. Elite splits within Russia are highly unlikely even if losses continue –public divisions that have occurred so far are focused on avoiding blame for setbacks rather than questioning the whole rationale for war or moving to depose Putin. For the elite and their own costs/benefits calculus, the risks of regime defection are still much greater than maintaining the status quo. Lenin noted that societal revolt only possible when elites are dissatisfied and divided. According to this logic, stable contemporary Russian elites and limited protest potential means stable society. If elites and society are stable, then the logic of Western discussions about how Putin must entertain vertical escalate to avoid defeat because defeat leads inexorably to regime change, need to be reassessed. No need therefore for vertical escalation.
Though a sudden coup/collapse of the regime is unlikely, it cannot be ruled out. The elites are prepared to be in the “party of a long war” but not the “party of defeat”. A Kherson breakthrough might change the calculus. If societal attitudes change from apathy to opposition to the war, the security state is less able to respond, given forces like Rosgvardiya are partially deployed to Ukraine, and those remaining are locally recruited and perhaps reluctant to turn on their home towns. Leaderships can bubble forth grievances or resentments do not have to be political and directly war focused. Economic hardship in Russian mono-industrial towns could be a source of grievance, resentment and protest. The dynamic of pre-emptive purging by the elite in the context of no opposition and the need to assign blame after military setbacks may become a factor.
Although unlikely, if Putin is removed or dies, this is likely to be a “good thing”. Western commentators fear of what comes after Putin is misguided. There is a lot of uncertainty to be sure, but we know that Putin in power is destabilizing. The most likely scenario if Putin goes is internal jockeying for position in new collective leadership order, which in turn assumes a managed intra-elite power transition, as occurred after the death of Stalin in 1953 or after Khrushchev was deposed in 1964. Collective leadership entails coalition building, a move from the extremes to the center and consensus. Internal consolidation is likely to distract Russia from external fight.
Ukrainian Intelligence Covert Action
Since the summer, the focus has been on the Ukrainian counteroffensive and changes on the battlefield. But there is also a growing parallel war fought by Ukrainian Special Forces and intelligence agencies behind Russian lines in the occupied territories and within the Russian Federation. These attacks are characterized by a willingness to take greater risk than Western supporters may be comfortable with and expand horizontally the geography of the conflict. The Crimean bridge attack, for example, while boosting Ukrainian morale, also challenged Ukraine’s western partners’ appetite for risking escalation.
The performance of Ukraine’s domestic Security Service (SBU) has exceeded expectations, given its reputation prior to the war for under performance and Russian penetration. But it is Ukrainian Military Intelligence, the GUR, that has grabbed most of the headlines in recent months. Gen Kyrylo Budanov, its 36-year-old chief, oversees Ukrainian intelligence covert activities. Though it is difficult to assign exploits to specific intelligence agencies (not least as Russia denies in some cases that a covert action occurred or refuses to attribute them to Ukraine), the GUR appears responsible for high-risk, high-profile operations e.g. retaking Snake Island and resupplying Azovstal by heliocopter under siege.
In the occupied territories subversion is designed to destabilize Russian control while reasserting Ukraine’s and to set the agenda. Attacks in Crimea, including the Black Sea Fleet Naval HQ in Sevastopol on Russia’s Navy Day (26 July) and on Saki airfield and other air bases and ammunition dumps, as well as the Crimea bridge itself, has the effect of softening Russia’s red lines and reaffirming the political importance of Crimea as part of Ukraine. The spread of the war to the Russian Federation, particularly Kursk and Belgorod regions through attacks on transport and energy infrastructure suggests how the war may develop over the winter behind the lines, even if stalemated on the front lines. The car bomb attack against Darya Dugina on 20 August has been attributed to Ukraine by US officials (although denied by Kyiv). It highlighted that Ukraine was willing and able to attack individuals inside Russia – including potentially Russian officials – and accept escalation risks in doing so.
While these attacks have served Ukraine’s political and military agendas, some high-risk operations have caused concern in western capitals. They are a reminder that Ukraine is willing to push its own sovereign agenda to determine the geography of the battlefield, work outside its borders and effectively disrupt the assumptions of Russia. But it is likely that risk assessments in Kyiv and Washington DC differ, with Ukraine willing to take greater risk than its western partners, raising questions about future escalation management. The role of the intelligence services will impact on the role of the ‘security-intelligence bloc’ within Ukraine. Effective covert action is aligned with a “Big Israel” potential alternative future trajectory for Ukraine.
Conclusions
Assessments offered suggest vertical escalation unlikely, but so too is Russian regime change. A prolonged war of attrition appears to be the default pathway, with conventional battles along the frontline, Ukrainian covert action in the occupied territories and Russia itself, and the threat of offensive action from Belarus. Russian nuclear rhetoric attempts to persuade the West to pressure Ukraine to accept Russian terms. A reconstituted Russian military comes out fighting in the spring of 2023.
We may see one more big push this month before weather conditions worsen. In Kherson, Luhansk or both rather than Zaporizhiia, as it is easier to try to break through in areas where Russian forces are less dug in than where lines have been stable for months. The rainy season gives reason for a temporary 1-2 month pause for maneuver warfare, which can begin again once the ground freezes, especially if it seems that Russian forces have supply problems with cold weather gear. If Ukrainians feel they are more comfortable fighting in cold than Russian forces, could take advantage.
‘Attrition by drone and missile attack’ appears not to be breaking Ukraine’s will to resist, but rather uniting a nation in anger, bridging internal differences and forging a more consolidated society. Brutal and indiscriminate Russian attacks against Ukrainian civilian population centers undercuts potential western ‘war fatigue’, and maintains western financial and military support for Ukraine. Russia’s remaining military capability and its ability to reconstitute itself is not a given. Belarus’ role remains unresolved and uncertain. A sudden Ukrainian battlefield breakthrough could still constitute a game changer, pushing Russian society to oppose the war. Time is not neutral. Luisteraars! Op zaterdag 5 november komen we massaal in actie tegen Schiphol!
Want: de kerosine die Schiphol verbruikt zorgt al voor ruim twee keer zoveel broeikasgassen als Tata Steel. En de condenssporen van vliegtuigen dragen nog zeker twee keer zoveel bij aan klimaatopwarming. En onderzoek laat zien dat de gezondheidsschade door Schiphol (vervuiling, fijnstof, geluid) veel groter is dan het economische nut.
Schiphol heeft een machtige lobby: geen natuurvergunning, geen accijns op kerosine, geen BTW op vliegtickets, slechte arbeidsomstandigheden en bestuurders met een politiek verleden. De meeste ‘winst’ door Schiphol verdwijnt in de zakken van Shell, omwonenden worden ziek, door de door Schiphol veroorzaakte klimaatverandering sterven er mensen uit groepen die zelf nooit zullen vliegen.

Extinction Rebellion en Greenpeace bundelen de krachten voor een buitengewone actie met IMPACT. Iedereen kan meedoen, er zijn opties voor massale verstoring én een legale demonstratie. We zorgen voor een actie die de luchtvaartsector luid en duidelijk zal horen en de politiek wakker zal schudden!
En dat is hoognodig. Want Schiphol negeert steevast de ernst van de klimaatcrisis, lapt regels aan de laars en misleidt ons met sprookjes over duurzame luchtvaart. Wij pikken dat niet meer. Schiphol moet krimpen, en dat gaat heus niet ten koste van het openbaar belang of van de nationale bereikbaarheid. De tijd van korteafstandsvluchten en pleziervliegreisjes is voorbij, en het faciliteren van privéjets is ronduit asociaal. Deze criminele vervuiling moet onmiddellijk stoppen. Er moet gekozen worden voor het LEVEN!
Doe mee aan de actie en bereid je goed voor! De komende weekenden worden door het hele land actietrainingen gegeven. Die zijn erg belangrijk om te volgen voordat je een disruptieve actie ingaat! Nodig je vrienden, buren, familie en collega’s uit om ook te komen! Deze trainingen bereiden je voor op de actie en je kunt daar ook een affinity group (AG) vormen om samen mee naar de actie te gaan. Er zijn trainingen gepland over het hele land, elk weekend in oktober.
Er zijn ook webinars en informatieavonden door het hele land, en meer trainingen. Natuurlijk komt er stress kijken bij een grote actie als deze. Om meer te leren over (zelf)zorg en je eigen welzijn en dat van anderen in de gaten te houden, kan het fijn zijn om een welzijnstraining bij te wonen. Check de website!

Tech en Fin vrijwilligers gezocht! We willen graag onze Technologie en Financiële cirkels uitbreiden. Essentieel voor XR en het weerhoudt je er niet van om daarnaast gewoon mee te doen met acties! Dankzij onze technologische helden is onze mooie beweging effectief. En omdat we groeien en de techniek steeds verandert, zoeken we daar meer ondersteuning. Kappen met Kolen! Elke maand zijn er XR-blokkades van kolentreinen. Voor iedereen die zich kwaad maakt over het voortduren van het gebruik van fossiele brandstoffen. Er waren al blokkades in de Amsterdamse haven en afgelopen weekend was Tata Steel in IJmuiden aan de beurt. De eis: direct ‘Kappen met Kolen’. De acties richten zich op grootverbruikers van kolen, en plekken waar kolen worden gedistribueerd. De volgende actie staat gepland op 15 oktober. Meedoen of meehelpen? Doneer aan XR om Schiphol te stoppen Samen met Greenpeace gaat XR de strijd aan. Voor het klimaat, en dus tegen vervuiling. Voor rechtvaardigheid, en dus tegen goedkope tarieven door belastingkorting. Voor ons algemene belang, en dus tegen de louter economische belangen van Schiphol en kerosine-dealers.

On Saturday, 5 November, we will protest en masse against Schiphol!
Because, the kerosene consumed by Schiphol causes more than twice as many greenhouse gases as Tata Steel does. Aircraft condensation trails contribute at least twice as much to global warming still. And Research shows that the health damage caused by Schiphol (pollution, particulate matter, noise) far outweighs the economic benefit. Schiphol has a powerful lobby: no nature permit, no excise duty on paraffin, no VAT on air tickets, poor working conditions and administrators with a political past. Most of Schiphol’s ‘profits’ disappear into Shell’s pockets, local residents get sick, the climate change caused by Schiphol is killing people from groups that will never even get the ‘chance’ to travel by airplane themselves.

Extinction Rebellion and Greenpeace are joining forces for an extraordinary action with IMPACT. Everyone can participate; there are options for mass disruption as well as a legal demonstration. We will provide an action that will be heard loud and clear by the aviation industry and will wake up politicians!
And that is much needed. Because Schiphol consistently ignores the seriousness of the climate crisis, flouts rules and misleads us with fairy tales about sustainable aviation. We won’t put up with that anymore. Schiphol has to shrink, and surely not at the expense of public interest or national accessibility. The days of short-haul flights and pleasure flying are over, and facilitating private jets is downright anti-social. This criminal pollution must stop immediately. Let’s choose for LIFE!
Join the action and prepare well! Action trainings will be held across the country over the coming weekends. These are very important to attend before entering a disruptive action! Invite your friends, neighbours, family and colleagues to come too! These trainings will prepare you for the action and you can also form an affinity group (AG) there to join the action together. Thanks to our tech heroes, our beautiful movement is effective. And as we grow and technology keeps changing, we are looking for more support there. Stop Coal (“Kappen met kolen”)! Every month there are XR blockades of coal trains. For anyone who is angry about the continued use of fossil fuels. The talk will discuss the concepts of passive and Jacobin revolutions, hegemony crisis, Caesarism in relation to the post-Soviet condition. Post-Soviet Caesarist regimes and maidan revolutions presented only deficient solutions to the post-Soviet crisis of hegemony that either conserved or reproduced and intensified the very crisis. The roots of the crisis lie in the incapacity of post-Soviet political capitalists to provide any stable alternative to the degraded Communist hegemony. The dynamics of the hegemony crisis on the global, regional, and domestic levels is crucial to understanding the threats, opportunities, and resources for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. However, this shift to military coercion after failing in political, intellectual, and moral leadership may trigger the end of the crisis either destructing any sovereign center of capital accumulation in the post-Soviet region or pushing Russia to the fundamental economic, political, and ideological transformation that may create the conditions for a new cycle of “Jacobin” social revolutions in the XXI century.
Volodymyr Ishchenko is a research associate at the Institute of East European Studies, Freie Universität Berlin. His research focused on protests and social movements, revolutions, radical right and left politics, nationalism and civil society. He authored a number of peer-reviewed articles and interviews on contemporary Ukrainian politics, the Euromaidan uprising, and the ensuing war in 2013-14 — published in Post-Soviet Affairs, Globalizations and New Left Review, among other journals. He has been a prominent contributor to major international media outlets, such as The Guardian, Al Jazeera and Jacobin since 2014. He is working on a collective book manuscript, The Maidan Uprising: Mobilization, Radicalization, and Revolution in Ukraine, 2013-2014.
